This painting features a short poem written by Benayun. The text reads: “The flowers know my name. We are old friends. They know everything about me. They ask nothing in return. So I call them on occasion. Take everything I need. Most of the time I take too much. They forgive.
One of these days I am going to be a better friend. March on over to a field with a bag of bees. Let them loose and exclaim “Happy birthday friends, thanks for it all, thanks forever, I am here with you always!” But for now I hold on my hand a bouquet made from seeds older than any memory. Roots made from dirt older than any name. Whose existence helps everything. A gift of the sun.”
